Back to Poppello

Poppello privacy policy.

Poppello is designed to be a relaxing, private experience. This policy explains what information the app handles, why it is used and the choices available to you.

Effective 1 September 2026 Worldwide App specific policy

Who is responsible

Poppello is developed by Shóna Nunez, an independent developer based in Ireland. For data protection purposes, Shóna Nunez is the data controller for information processed through Poppello, except where Apple or Google acts as a separate controller under its own terms.

Scope

This policy applies to the Poppello app on iPhone and iPad, and its companion Apple Watch experience. Poppello does not require you to create an account or sign in to an account operated by the developer.

Gameplay and preferences

Poppello stores information needed to provide the app, including game progress, scores, achievements, activity statistics, selected themes, game settings and other preferences. This information is stored on your device using Apple’s SwiftData technology.

If you are signed in to iCloud and iCloud Drive is available, this information is also stored in your private iCloud database so that it can remain available across your Apple devices. Private iCloud data is controlled through your Apple account, counts towards your iCloud storage and is not visible to the developer in Apple’s developer portal.

Some settings, progress and subscription status may also be transferred directly between your iPhone and paired Apple Watch using Apple’s WatchConnectivity service.

Analytics

With your consent, Poppello uses Google Analytics for Firebase to understand how the app is used and to improve its design and features. Events may include onboarding screens viewed, game modes started, the statistics screen being opened, themes selected, subscription options selected or completed and subscription status changes.

Analytics may process an app instance or device/vendor identifier, session information, general device and operating system information, app version, approximate location derived from an IP address, and the usage events described above. Poppello does not send your name or email address to Analytics, does not set a developer defined user ID and does not use Analytics for advertising or tracking you across other companies’ apps or websites.

You can withdraw consent and stop future Analytics collection at any time from Poppello’s Options screen. Withdrawing consent does not affect the lawfulness of processing that occurred before withdrawal.

Crash reporting

With your consent, Poppello uses Firebase Crashlytics to identify crashes and nonfatal errors, understand their causes and improve the app’s reliability.

Crash reports may contain a Crashlytics installation identifier, Firebase installation identifier, session identifier, crash time, app version, device model, operating system version, device state, crash traces and technical diagnostic details. Reports may also include limited diagnostic logs or a short developer defined description of the operation that failed. Poppello does not assign your name, email address or other developer defined identity to Crashlytics reports.

You can stop future Crashlytics collection at any time from Poppello’s Options screen. Turning crash reporting off does not remove reports already received; those reports are removed according to the retention period below.

Purchases

Subscriptions and payments are offered through Apple’s App Store and processed by Apple. The developer does not receive your payment card details. Poppello receives the product purchased, subscription status and relevant entitlement or expiry information from Apple so that it can provide premium features, restore purchases and display your subscription status. A limited copy of this entitlement information is stored on your device and may be sent to your paired Apple Watch.

Apple handles App Store account and transaction information under Apple’s Privacy Policy.

Contacting support

When you choose Contact Developer, Report a Bug or Request a Feature, Poppello opens your email app. If you send an email, the developer receives your email address and whatever message, device details or attachments you choose to include. This information is used only to reply, investigate the issue and provide support.

What Poppello does not do

  • No developer operated user accounts or sign in.
  • No advertising or sale of personal information.
  • No cross app or cross website tracking.
  • No access to photos, contacts, camera, microphone, precise location or health data.
  • No social feed, public profile or user generated content.
  • No promotional or user visible push notifications.

Why information is used

Gameplay, preferences, iCloud synchronisation, Watch synchronisation and subscription information are processed to provide the app and features you request. Support correspondence is processed to respond to your request and for the developer’s legitimate interest in supporting and improving Poppello. Optional Analytics and Crashlytics information is processed on the basis of your consent.

Information may also be processed where reasonably necessary to comply with a legal obligation, establish or defend legal claims, prevent fraud or protect the security and integrity of Poppello and its users.

Service providers

Poppello uses Apple for iCloud, WatchConnectivity, StoreKit and App Store services, and Google for Firebase Analytics and Crashlytics. These providers process information as needed to supply their services and protect it under their own contractual and legal obligations.

Learn more from Apple’s Privacy Policy, Firebase Privacy and Security and Google’s Privacy Policy.

The developer does not sell your information or share it with advertising networks or data brokers.

International transfers

Apple and Google operate internationally. Information handled by their services may be processed outside Ireland or the European Economic Area, including in countries whose data protection laws differ from those in your country. Where required, transfers are protected using recognised safeguards such as adequacy decisions, the EU–US Data Privacy Framework or standard contractual clauses.

Retention and deletion

  • Gameplay and preferences: kept on your device and, when enabled, in your private iCloud database until you delete them. The Delete All My Data option in Poppello removes the app’s local and iCloud synchronised gameplay data.
  • Analytics: event level data associated with an identifier is configured to be retained for 2 months. Aggregated statistics that no longer identify an app instance may be retained for longer.
  • Crashlytics: Google retains crash reports and their associated installation identifiers for 90 days before beginning removal from live and backup systems.
  • Support email: kept only for as long as reasonably necessary to answer your request, handle follow up, protect legal rights and meet legal obligations, then deleted when it is no longer needed.

Turning Analytics or Crashlytics off stops future collection. You may also email hello@snapps.ie with a deletion request. Because Poppello has no developer operated accounts and the developer does not know your identity from an app instance identifier alone, it may not always be possible to connect a request to previously collected pseudonymous records.

Your privacy rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to request access to, correction of, deletion of or restriction of your personal data; to object to certain processing; to withdraw consent; and to receive certain data in a portable format. You may exercise applicable rights by emailing hello@snapps.ie.

If you are in the European Economic Area, you may also complain to your local supervisory authority. In Ireland, this is the Data Protection Commission.

Children

Poppello is intended for a general audience and is not directed specifically to children or submitted to the App Store Kids Category. The app does not knowingly request a child’s name, email address or other direct contact details. If you are a parent or guardian and believe a child has provided personal information through a support email, please contact the developer so it can be reviewed and deleted where appropriate.

Security

Reasonable technical and organisational measures are used to protect information handled through Poppello. Local data is protected by Apple’s device security, private iCloud data is protected through the user’s Apple account, and Firebase encrypts data in transit. No method of storage or transmission can be guaranteed to be completely secure.

Changes to this policy

This policy may be updated when Poppello’s features, service providers or legal obligations change. The effective date at the top of this page will be revised when material changes are made. Where required, notice or renewed consent will be provided in the app.
